We are delighted to see that the new pedestrian bridge over Shaker Creek is almost finished. The bridge replaces one that was washed downstream several years ago. SHS Board member, Jim Faddegon spearheaded the project and volunteers from the Northeastern Woodworkers Association constructed the bridge. Funding for the project was provided by Albany County and Faddegon’s Building and Remodeling.
Construction of the bridge is part of the implementation of the first phase of the site master plan that is guiding the revitalization of the historic site. It will greatly enhance pedestrian access to the site during our large scale public events and education programs. We are grateful to Jim Faddegon and the NEWA for their commitment to the project. SHS still needs to raise $1,000 to cover the costs for building materials.
