At Shaker Heritage Society 2015 is the Year of the Barn! We are celebrating the completion of major stabilization work on the 1915 barn complex just in time for its 100th birthday. This is also a great time to consider renting the barn for your wedding. Now more than ever, rustic barns are taking the place of traditional wedding venues. With a little creativity and some inspiration from Pinterest, many brides see the creative potential of barn venues. The Shaker Heritage Society’s beautiful historic barn is the perfect spot for your special day.
The Barn and Meeting House at the Shaker Heritage Society in Albany, NY
The Shaker Heritage Society is located in the heart of the 770-acre Watervliet (Albany) Shaker National Historic District. The barn, built in 1915, was an efficient and technologically advanced building that drew upon the latest agricultural design innovations of the era while reflecting Shaker aesthetics. The barn is located on lovely grounds that provide the perfect place for your wedding ceremony, lawn games or a cocktail hour.The 1848 Meeting House is within walking distance from the barn. It served as the church, where the community gathered on Sundays to worship, sing, and dance. The main room has many original Shaker features, wonderful acoustics, and a wooden dance floor. Both of these wonderful buildings are available to rent and will provide a unique historical setting for you next event. Not only will you impress your guests, but you will help maintain these structures and support the museum.
