This year’s Shaker Heritage Society Fall Gala will bring together supporters, community leaders, and friends of Shaker Heritage Society for cocktails, dinner, and a special program honoring longtime volunteer stewards Rebecca Langer and Bob Reilly for their enduring dedication to the historic farm and gardens.
Proceeds from the evening will support the preservation and future stewardship of the Shaker Heritage Society site and working landscape.
About the Gala
This special evening will honor two long-time volunteers, Rebecca Langer and Bob Reilly, whose care and dedication have sustained the farm and gardens for many years, while also marking an exciting new chapter for the organization.
As we look ahead, Shaker Heritage Society is launching the Farm + Garden Fund, an initiative to support the ongoing stewardship of the site’s landscape, including the gardens, apple orchard, and agricultural programs, as well as future opportunities for growth.

About the Farm + Garden Fund
Historic landscapes are under threat, and America’s first Shaker village is no exception.
Shaker Heritage Society is establishing the Farm + Garden Fund to ensure the long-term care and preservation of its historic agricultural landscape. In the near term, the fund will support the materials and people needed to sustain current programs while building a stable foundation for the ongoing maintenance and thoughtful evolution of the 25-acre site.
WHY THIS MATTERS NOW
Historic farmland is steadily disappearing under the pressure of development, and the landscape stewarded by Shaker Heritage Society is not immune. As open space becomes increasingly scarce, the responsibility to protect what remains takes on renewed urgency.
A MOMENT OF TRANSITION
For decades, the farm and garden programs at the Shaker Heritage Site have been led by dedicated volunteers whose care and commitment have shaped the landscape. As two key volunteers prepare to retire, a new operational and funding model is needed to ensure continuity and long-term sustainability.
