DESCRIPTION:The event begins with a keynote address entitled Can’t You Sing and Dance A Little? Shaker Marches\, Dances and Motioning Songs by renowned Shaker music and dance scholar\, Mary Ann Haagen from 1pm-2pm. The lecture explores the Shakers’ use of movement to generate and sustain spiritual energy in worship. \nThis will be followed by a Shaker dance workshop from 2:15pm-3:15pm  led by Dr. K. Michelle Arthur\, Education Coordinator\, SHS. The workshop will include a variety of styles of songs and dances that span the nearly 250-year history of Shaker dance. \nAt 3:30pm\, Melanie Axel-Lute will lead a presentation about the influence of Shaker music & dance on modern music & dance.
